In this week, I have to prepare my advertising presentation proposal. I've chosen an issue(public interest) advert in traffic issues. The reason that I intend to choose this type of advert is because it often focus on story-telling which can be useful in my pathway, animation.

Here is my chosen advert.

Talk them dead, housewife

Name of brand: Mudra

Year work was created: 2010

Genre of advert: Public Interest(traffic issues)

The reason that I would like to analyse this advert is because I like how this advert communicate the main idea without showing the event that happened. Without reading the text, only the splatter of blood from the phone can already remind me of calling while driving, as it’s the most possible way of causing accident by phone. Also, I think this simple story-telling technique might be good or applicable for my pathway, animation, as well.

There are many initial ideas in my mind about this work. First, the splatter blood from the phone is quite simple but also impact. When there is blood, the first general idea that comes to people’s minds are accident, murder, or horror. Thus, the idea of blood caused by phone can reminds people of accident by driving easily as calling while driving is one of the easiest way to cause accident in traffic. Next, · overall colours of the advert are pensive. The only bright colour is the blood, which makes the audiences focus on it more. Finally, As this advert is from India, the paint on her hand called ‘Mehndi’ is the sign that she just got marriage. This cause the local audience feel more impact about using phone while driving as it might make they lose someone by this action even when their lives are getting well.

Why city flags may be the worst-designed thing you've never noticed

This is a talk in TED talk about city flags and their designs. This is a good presentation in body language and the way he choose to present them hilariously, which can capture the audience's attentions really well.

Here is my note on some of the details in his speech.

His main point of talk is not giving information, but to raise people's interests in designing flags, as he gives examples of bad and good flags in comparison to see how to improve the bad-designed flags. He also mentioned the importance of good-design flags that it can make other recognised the city and become a proud symbolism of citizens in that city.

His information is also the basic of every design in this modern day. The simplicity and memorable features help in many design career, as a good design often required these features he has said to be noticeable and distinctive.

What makes his talk a good presentation is that he uses many tools to attract the audiences, be confident and influent while talking, leaves some jokes to light the speech up, and has many examples to support his talk. His presentation slide also contains really less text which makes people focus on his speech more.
