Ender game's scene - training

This scene from Ender’s game is about the training of the protagonists before they get disturbed by the antagonist, which the main purpose is to show the relationship between 3 main characters, who are Ender, Petra, and Bonzo. In order to show their relations, the director used different shot types and camera techniques to achieve this.
Firstly, figure 1 and 2 are a shot type of over-shoulder. The director uses this shot to show the conversation and action between 2 characters, which shows a character’s relation toward another character who is off-screen by focusing on a character’s expressions and actions. In these scenes, Petra (the female character) shows confidence, trust, and relieved feeling toward Ender, who is shown only the part of his shoulder.
The second shot type is the wide shot that show both characters and settings. This shot shows the overall situation of what is going on in the scene. The director uses this shot to provide information of where the characters are and shows their actions and intentions as a group, not just focusing on a single character. The director also uses mid shot in some scene to focus more on the characters’ body languages and facial expressions.
For camera angles, most shots are in eye-level, which is to gives the feeling of being on the same level, not superior or inferior to others.
